“God is in each of us.  We can ignore it or we can use it to be our best selves.”  We all get to choose, every day and every moment of every day about how we are going to engage in this flow of Divine energy.  We can live from the truth of the indwelling Spirit, or we can ignore it and allow our ego to drive the Bus of our life.  We each have a Divine Inheritance and it is our journey on this planet to uncover and discover what that is.

One way to uncover and discover this light of the world according to Charles Filmore, co-founder of Unity, is to consciously activate our 12 Powers.  I have been sharing about the 12 powers for 12 months and today we will be talking about the last power, but yet I believe it is the first Power.  It is the Power of Life.

Do you live life, I mean really live life?

What does this mean?  Here are a few questions to help …

Do you energize, vitalize, and enliven worthwhile projects and activities?

Do you energize, vitalize, enliven and make whole Ideas, Truth, Principles and Laws that are Divine in nature?

Do you use the Power of Life to be the best version of God you can be every day?

Do you express love, real love? The kind of love that bubbles to the surface when you gaze at another with understanding.  A love that places you in their shoes, granting freedom from judgement and deepens your compassion.

Do you forgive, really forgive?  The kind of forgiveness that cracks open your heart, peeling away one more layer of righteous indignation, thus allowing your soul to breathe. The kind of forgiveness that comprehends the difference between understanding a behavioral choice and condoning it.

The Power of Life is the ability to energize, vitalize, enliven, make whole, create, restore, heal, mend, procreate, regenerate.  The color is red (same as the first chakra, which is symbolic of I AM)

Charles Fillmore in “The Revealing Word” says:  “Life is divine, spiritual and its source is God, Spirit.  The river of life is within us in our spiritual consciousness.  We come into consciousness of the river of life through the quickening of Spirit.  (That is what the 12 Powers helps us with) We can be truly quickened with new life and vitalized in mind and body, only by consciously contacting Spirit. This contact is made through prayer, meditation and good works.”

Life is the great indefinable: it is “something that enlivens every little thing.”  Some think a baby begins to have life with the union of the egg and the sperm.  Yet independently, the egg and the sperm seem to have a life of their own.  We go through many stages from simple cells to complex human beings.  Our body changes as we grow older.  But the Life Power is ageless, formless and forever unfolding.  When we die, our body is still present but something is missing.  It is our energy, our life force.   Where does it go?

The 1st Law of Thermodynamics says energy cannot be created or destroyed.  This “life” or energy must somehow continue.  Where does it go?  Life did not start with birth and end with death.

Other ways we speak of life.  Expression, “breathe life into a project”?  It means to give life/energy to thoughts, feelings, beliefs, ideas.  The “Power of Life” is actually used in all the others Powers – to activate them.

Here are more questions:

Do you seek adventure, really seek adventure?  The kind of adventure that requires you, not only to take a leap of faith off your cliff of comfort, but the kind of adventure that actually sends you back to get a running start.  The kind of adventure that shakes the dust off your capable, but underused wings and gives them an opportunity to catch the gorgeous wind of change.

Do you play, really play?  The kind of play that gives value to the heavenly activity of fun – knowing that fun is sacred, that play is the equivalent of work and that during play, renewal and relaxation usher in the newest ideas and the clearest choices for better manifestations.  Do you view play as a necessary life function and not a debatable luxury?

Another essential aspect of the Power of Life is, it enlivens our mind and body to achieve complete health, wholeness and vitality.  When we feel a cold come on, we claim and speak our Ability/Faculty or Power of Life to every cell and atom of our being.  That brings me yet another question:

Do you seek wellness, real wellness?  The kind of wellness that requires you to be fully conscious of what you put into your body  The kind of wellness that requires you to practice what you preach when it comes to self-love, while understanding that the power to dissolve poor habits by simply choosing to change.  Wellness that says, “this is the only body I have.  Treat it with respect, praise it daily and honor it as the holy temple that it is.”

Do you stop, really stop?  The kind of stopping that can’t help make you vulnerable by becoming more familiar with who you are without distraction, smoke screens, excuses or self- imposed numbing.  The kind of stopping that turns you naked toward your feelings, giving them permission to express.  No right or wrong – a stopping that simply lets you hear what you need to hear so that you can LIVE MORE EFFECTIVLY!

We go through many stages in life.  We develop in our mother’s womb, and then we are born out into the opportunity for greater development and expression.  Life in the womb stopped, but it leads to greater life expansion.  This is the way of the creative process.  We are born again and again as we pass through various development stages and experiences.  But we are still ourselves and when we graduate from this body, there will be further expansion, experiences and work to do.  This brings me to the question of eternity. Where is eternity? When does eternal life begin?  Maybe it is better to ask, “Am I living fully in the eternal now?  Life is not measured in quantity, but in quality.  That is why these questions I have been asking are so important.

Do you share your good, really share your good?  The kind of sharing that comes from the pure joy of seeing another succeed.  Do you tithe back to where you are spiritually fed, transformed and inspired?  Do you practice random acts of kindness and give of your time, talent and treasure realizing that your good is a part of a never-ending wellspring that cannot run dry, whose source is and always will be, the infinite wellspring of the divine?

So, are you living life fully alive?
